We're paid by the insurance company directly via a brokerage commission. These commissions are already included in the premium and, therefore, you don't have anything to pay us directly. Sometimes we may apply processing fees but only if you end-up being a customer and always after asking you for agreement, of course! To be noted that application fees might be applied by the company without us getting a cut of it. Anyway, as we believe trust is the base layer of a long lasting business relationship, we'll always be clear about fees, if any is applied by us.
Short answer: no!
The commission that's included in the premium is perceived by the "sale agent" that sold the policy, whatever that person is a broker or an insurance agent doesn't change the commission and therefore the final premium (except in the case of limited commercial offers, of course).
Cherry on the pie, when we have a say in the commission's rate, we usually apply the standard rate as per company's recommendations.
We don't have any kind of capital relationship with the insurance companies. We also refuse to agree on commercial goals with our providers so that our advices are completely unbiased by economical incentives.
As for the question "who are you working with?" we have quite an extensive set of insurance providers and are proud to work with the biggest brand in France. We work with a total of more than 30 insurance companies which, we think, allows us to get a comprehensive picture of the insurance landscape to find the best possible solution in one's specific case.
That's actually quite the opposite as we are commited to serve you for the duration of the policy (at least) but you get your policy transferred with an agent or another broker whenever you'd like. As we don't collect premiums on the behalf of the companies (neither for the premium, nor for the claims), the financial mangement of your policy is done by the company directly so you're not financially tied to us either (although we can try to negociate on your behalf if anything goes wrong). To put that simply, you're free to walk away from us whenever you want (just keep in mind that you do have some obligations toward the company itself, we're merely speaking about your ties with the broker not the policy itself) although we'd love to keep you as a customer as long as possible you don't owe us anything.
